Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg / Oncology (Nights)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work primarily on oncology and medical-surgical units with patient types including oncology, chemo/side effect management, and med/surg.
• Float across multiple med/surg units and campuses within the area.
• Night shift with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6.
• Unit size: 28 beds.
• No drips or titrations required.
• Experience with Infusaport access required.
• EMR system used: EPIC.
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
• Orientation duration: 16 hours.
• Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months of oncology experience in a hospital or medical center setting.
• At least 24 months of combined recent oncology and med/surgical experience documented in work history.
• Must have completed at least one prior travel nursing contract within the last 12 months (no first-time travelers).
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of application.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience with Infusaport access.
• Skills checklist specific to oncology and med/surgical nursing required.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Med/surgical experience due to floating requirements.
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and recent chemo experience.
• CHEMO / ONS / ONCC certification.
• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months.
