Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)

Location: Muncie, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work 4 shifts of 12 hours each, night shift (17:30 - 6:00), every other week including holidays.
  • Float between NICU, Pediatric acute care, and Adult acute care units.
  • Respiratory care responsibilities include airway management, medication administration, ventilator management, ABGs, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, nebulizer treatments, BiPAP, and CPAP.
  • Preferred experience with trauma, teaching hospital, and ER settings.
  • Preferred familiarity with bronchoscopes, Cerner documentation system, and equipment such as Hamilton G5 and Philips V60 ventilators.
  • Unit settings include General Care, NICU, Pediatrics, and Adult Intensive Care.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana.
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting.
  • Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience.
  • NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy).
  • Background checks including 7-year history, SSN trace, county/state/national criminal checks, sex offender registry, and FACIS Level III.
  • Education verification and official transcript or diploma.
  • State license verification within 30 days of start.
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and unit competency exam.
  • Color blindness testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) with a minimum score of 100%.
  • Physical exam completed within 12 months of start.
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start with approved respirators (N95 or equivalent).
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months.
  • Immunizations and titers required or strongly recommended:
    • Tuberculosis test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year.
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years; references must be from charge nurses, managers, supervisors, or higher.
  • Current employment application with full work history and explanations for any gaps over 30 days.
  • Skills checklist completed within 12 months and updated annually.
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance, confidentiality, orientation, and policy acknowledgment forms prior to start.

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required.
  • Floating between multiple patient populations and units is mandatory.
  • On-site fit testing and PAPR use require prior facility approval.
  • Declinations for required immunizations are not accepted.
