Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient Rehabilitation
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide nursing care in a 49-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation facility specializing in patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions requiring inpatient rehab services. The unit functions similarly to a medical-surgical unit with high patient acuity.
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend and holiday rotations
- Call requirements apply
- Mandatory 30-minute unpaid break per shift plus two paid 15-minute breaks
- Staff must adhere to attendance and tardy policies
- No overtime without supervisor approval
Patient Care & Unit Details
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 7 patients
- Adult patient population requiring high acuity inpatient rehabilitation
- Equipment includes mobility aids (ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Plus, slide boards), vital sign machines, EKG, blood glucose monitors, and computers for charting
- Electronic Health Record system: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a rehabilitation setting within the last year
- Experience in medical-surgical nursing
- Experience in rehabilitation nursing
Additional Information
- Nurses are expected to assist with patient safety tasks such as answering call lights and supporting CNAs
- No current float requirements, but may be required to float to a nearby satellite inpatient rehab facility within 20 minutes in the future
- Orientation dates available throughout the year (January through December)
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
This role is ideal for RNs with inpatient rehab or med-surg experience seeking a travel assignment in a specialized rehab setting with a focus on high-acuity adult patients.
