Description
Job Opportunity: Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Oncology Ambulatory Care
- Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
- Patient Population: Cancer patients, including adolescents and young adults (ages 15-39)
- Care Focus Areas:
- Psychosocial Oncology (emotional support, counseling)
- Oncology Rehabilitation (physical function and mobility)
- Fertility Preservation & Reproductive Consultation
- Integrative Oncology (holistic and complementary medicine)
- Survivorship Care (wellness and care coordination)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Ambulatory Care experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience working in a clinic setting
- Experience in Internal Medicine
- Experience in Urgent Care
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881) required prior to start
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA accreditation required)
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, THC, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
- Health Documentation:
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series or signed declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1–3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but recommended
- References: Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal supervisor
- Employment Application and Skills Checklist required
Competency & Certification Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
- Unit-specific competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
Work Environment & Support
- Work settings include Family Care clinic, Internal Medicine, and Urgent Care
- Provider support available: Interpretation services, pharmacy, phlebotomy, social services, unit secretary

- Candidates must complete fingerprinting and background checks with strict adherence to Ohio state requirements and timelines.
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.
- Annual renewal of background checks not required by client but required by agency.
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually.
- Dress code and hand hygiene policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
