Description
Registered Nurse (LTC/SNF) - South Dakota
Job Details
- Location: Canistota, South Dakota
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights
- Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: If holidays fall within your scheduled block
- Patient Population: Elderly patients including those with dementia and behavioral health diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and paranoia
- Unit Size: 55 beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:
- Day shift approximately 1:23
- Night shift approximately 1:45
- Med aide support from 6 PM to 10 PM; 1 nurse from 10 PM to 6 AM
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): PCC
- Orientation: Location-specific training, tour, competencies, and opportunity to shadow 1-2 shifts
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license valid in South Dakota
- BLS Certification
- Preferred: Experience in psychiatric long-term care (geriatric psych)
Additional Information
- No on-call or call-back responsibilities
- Backouts or quits with less than 14 days’ notice will incur a $500 fee
- Behavioral program present; many patients are stable on medication and may not outwardly show psychiatric symptoms
This position is ideal for RNs with LTC/SNF experience, especially those comfortable working with geriatric psychiatric populations.
