Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced Geriatric Psychiatric RN for a 13-week night assignment. The RN holds shift accountability for providing comprehensive behavioral health care to adult psychiatric patients, utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.

Scope of Role:

• Provide behavioral health evaluations and implement individualized care plans

• Plan, implement, and document nursing care

• Administer medications and perform patient testing within RN scope of practice

• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures

• Promote patient independence through education on conditions, medications, and self-care

• Delegate care appropriately and supervise assigned personnel

• Demonstrate critical thinking, clinical judgment, and leadership to ensure safe patient care

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support optimal outcomes

Requirements:

• Active RN license

• Minimum 1+ year of experience required

• Previous Gero Psych unit experience required

• Strong behavioral health assessment and crisis management skills

• Ability to work independently on night shift

Additional Details:

• Fast-paced behavioral health environment

• Must be comfortable managing a 1:8 patient ratio
