Job Opportunity: Therapy/Rehabilitation Travel/Contract Position

Location: Toms River, New Jersey
Facility: Children's Specialized Hospital Outpatient Center
Hospital System: RWJBarnabas Health
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Patient Mix: Pediatrics Acute Care, Rehab/SNF experience required
  • Dress Code: Any color scrubs allowed

Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
  • Must hold a valid New Jersey or Compact Physical Therapist (PT) License at time of submission
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required

Certifications & Competencies (as applicable)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA required; RQI and AHA instructor cards acceptable. Required for all RNs and many tech roles.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for certain adult critical care units and managers; not required for this pediatric-focused role unless specified.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for pediatric units such as ED, PICU, and outpatient surgery.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for NICU, L&D, Mother-Baby units; likely relevant for pediatric rehab settings.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs for non-violent de-escalation certification.
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for all RNs and LPNs within 1 year of start.
  • Color Blind Testing: Required within 1 year of start if job tasks require color discrimination.
  • Competency Exams: Including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency for applicable units.
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specific unit assignments; confirm with program coordinator.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray: Required within 3 months of start; specific protocols for positive TB history.
  • Physical Exam: Required within 12 months of start, must clear candidate for essential job functions and communicable disease free.
  • Flu Vaccination or Exemption: Mandatory annually; exemptions require documentation and mask-wearing during flu season.
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel urine drug screen required within 30 days of start.
  • Fit Test: Required on-site for respirator use; facial hair must be shaved unless accommodation is approved.
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire: Required if job tasks involve glove use; accommodations provided if needed.
  • Respiratory Medical Clearance: Required prior to start; must be updated annually.
  • Immunizations: Proof of immunity or vaccination required for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Check: Criminal background check required within 30 days of start; no open cases allowed.
  • Employment Application/Resume: Must include 7 years of work history with all gaps accounted for.
  • References: Two references required within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
  • Skills Checklist: Must be completed and updated annually.
  • State License Verification: Must match legal name with suffixes; proof of name change required if applicable.
  • E-Verify: Required for clearance.
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required if no valid competency exams on file.
  • Annual Education Sign-Off: Must be completed prior to start and updated annually.
  • Vendor Medical Clearance Form: Required if history of positive TB.
  • Fit Mask Questionnaire: Must be completed within 48 hours of confirmation.
