Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Specialty: Pediatrics (Float Position)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night Shift, 3x12 hour shifts
Licensing:
- Must be licensed to work in Missouri
- Kansas license preferred or willingness to obtain (floating may require KS license)
- Clean Nursys verification required
Job Description
- Float RN position within pediatric units at the Missouri facility campus
- Floating only to similar specialty units (Pediatrics or Pediatric Med-Surg)
- Pediatric or Pediatric Med-Surg experience required
- Travel nursing experience required
- Flexible schedules preferred
- Local candidates accepted at same rate
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA only; RQI not accepted) – Not required for RRT or OR
- BLS (AHA only; HeartCode accepted; RQI not accepted) – Not required for SPT
- PALS (AHA only; HeartCode accepted; RQI not accepted) – Not required for RRT
- NRP (AHA 8th Edition Advanced Certification) – As required, not for RRT
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required for ER/Peds ER
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (RNs only)
- State License Verification (Primary Source Verification)
- NURSYS Verification (for all RNs)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – 100% required on medication calculation/dosage test during orientation (RNs only)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Required for Behavioral Health Techs only
- RRT Tech Certification (if applicable) – NBRC verification required
Required Background Checks & Verifications
- Background check within 3 months of start, including all counties worked/lived in past 7 years, sex offender search, statewide search for Missouri and Kansas
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start, updated every 6 months
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start, updated every 6 months
- Missouri Highway Patrol Check (MO only)
Required Health Documents
- Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Physical exam (initial and annual)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2-step PPD or equivalent)
- TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
- Proof of immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (3 vaccines, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Medical/Religious Exemption (declinations NOT accepted) – must be on file by October 15
- COVID-19 vaccine currently NOT required
- Respiratory Safety Clearance or Respirator Questionnaire (if applicable)
Competency Requirements
- Pediatric pharmacology competency exam (not required for Case Manager)
- Color Blind Testing (all clinical candidates)
- Pediatric competency exam (pediatric association)
- Core Parts I, II, III (for subcontractors only)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific health forms, TB questionnaire, medication review packet (prior to start)
- Submission of time-sensitive forms within 24-48 hours of contract signing
- Parking permit request prior to start
Employment History & References
- 2 supervisory references or performance evaluations within 1 year of start
- Annual performance evaluation if employed with agency >12 months
- Skills checklist for pediatric competencies (as applicable)
- Employment application/resume
- Internal evaluation if employed >2 years
Additional Notes
- Floating primarily within the same facility campus; minimal chance of floating to Kansas
- Candidates without KS license but willing to obtain are encouraged to apply
- Flexible scheduling preferred for travelers
