ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Bristol, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule & Shift Details
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 - 7:00)
- 36 hours per week (36/36 schedule)
- 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
- No on-call required
- Floating to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with occasional Med-Surg (MS) as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Orientation & Training
- General orientation begins on Sundays (includes 16 hours of non-billable online compliance training)
- Active participation in nursing student support and clinical education is expected alongside clinical care duties
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required for Tennessee-licensed candidates
- Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification required
- Photo for badge must be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing (neutral background, no filters, no visible facial piercings/tattoos)
- Completion of facility-specific forms including dress code, contaminated sharps/body fluid exposure statement, smoking/tobacco use policy, influenza policy, and respirator medical evaluation questionnaire (time sensitive)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
- Respirator fit testing completed onsite (no outside fit tests accepted)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented declinations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)
- Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start (instant test acceptable as placeholder)
Additional Notes
- The hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional overtime shifts may be flexed as needed without penalty
- Candidates must commit to completing all required documentation and compliance by deadlines to start on a Sunday orientation date
This position offers a structured travel nursing opportunity with a focus on ICU care, including some floating to PCU and Med-Surg units, with comprehensive compliance and health requirements to ensure readiness and safety.
