Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Day shift options:
- 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 11:00 PM) on Saturday and Sunday
- 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 6:30 PM) Monday through Friday
- No on-call required
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience needed in the following areas:
- Orthopedics
- General Surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Vascular
- Urology
- Preferred experience (not required):
- Da Vinci robotic surgery
- Endovascular procedures
- Ophthalmology (eyes)
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Texas with primary source online verification
- Driver’s License or State ID required
- Background checks including:
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters required if negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented chickenpox history
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Required certifications (as applicable):
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Chemotherapy certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
Charting System
- Epic electronic health record system

- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for this travel assignment (counties include Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris)

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, Vascular Surgery, and Urology
