Occupational Therapist - Contract Position

Location: Hot Springs, South Dakota
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide occupational therapy services including evaluation, planning, directing, and administering treatment modalities as prescribed by a licensed physician. Assist patients in restoring function and preventing disability following injury or disease, helping them reach their maximum performance and level of functioning.

Responsibilities

• Supervise occupational therapy assistants and aides.
• Assess patients (pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric) in inpatient and outpatient settings and develop individualized plans of care based on identified deficits.
• Monitor and evaluate patient responses to treatment; communicate plan changes with physicians.
• Develop and implement teaching plans for patients and families; involve family members as appropriate.
• Coordinate patient care ensuring compliance with hospital policies and patient needs.
• Operate and manage occupational therapy modality equipment safely and correctly.
• Maintain department cleanliness, safety, and accurate documentation per standards.
• Address psychosocial needs of patients and families with respect and dignity.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and administration.
• Collaborate with other departments for patient care and performance improvement.
• Participate in staff education, performance improvement activities, orientation, and in-service training.
• Engage in continuing education to meet state and national CEU requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Occupational Therapist license in South Dakota
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist
• Occupational Therapist experience within the last year
