Description
Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) in Bismarck, North Dakota. This position involves caring for patients recovering from anesthesia, including pediatric patients and those requiring complex post-operative care. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
- Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts, including various times from 0730 to 2100, with on-call responsibilities from 0630 to 2100
- Schedule: Mixed 8 and 12-hour shifts - 0730-4, 8-430, 830-5, 830-9pm, 10-630pm on call, 630 to 9pm
- Required Qualifications: Certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); license validation required; minimum of 3 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Additional Qualifications: Must be able to recover pediatric patients and willing to manage second phase patients out of the operating room; experience with vented ICU patients, including those on pressors and blood products, is beneficial.
- Experience or Skills: Preferably 3 or more years of experience; ability to read strips; relevant clinical skills with pediatric and adult patients.
- Float: Travel staff are required to float to inpatient units, assisting as help or sitters, especially for Phase 2 patients.
- Additional Information: Two days of PACU-specific orientation plus a weekend buddy call. RTO (Request for Time Off) must be provided upfront for 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved.

- Trauma Level: Level 2
- Care Setting: Acute care
- Shift Notes: Mixed schedule with 8 and 12-hour shifts, including on-call.
- Additional Attributes: Successful nurses in this unit are valued for kindness, teamwork, efficiency, and willingness to assist others.
- Radius Rule: Candidates must reside within 50 miles and cannot be engaged as full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity.
