Description
Position: Psychologist
Location: 20 Hobo Forks Road, Natchez, MS 39120
Facility: Adams County Correctional Center
Shift: Days | 5x8-Hour Shifts
Duration: 3 Months

Job Summary:
The Psychologist is responsible for planning and implementing professional psychological service programs of a non-medical nature within the facility. This role includes coordinating and directing personnel involved in providing psychological services to inmates/residents.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological screenings and assessments through records review and clinical interviews with inmates.
- Collaborate with mental health team members including psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, and social workers to coordinate treatment plans.
- Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans based on inmate evaluations and level of functioning.
- Make routine rounds in segregation or confined housing to assess inmate adjustment and mental health needs.
- Apply sound psychological counseling theories and techniques in treatment activities.
- Provide mental health assessments, counseling, and interventions to manage crises and avoid confrontations.
- Consult with psychiatry, medical, nursing, education, security, and chaplaincy staff to identify causes of behavioral changes and mental health concerns.
Requirements:
- Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in Mississippi.
- Minimum two years of clinical experience, including at least one year in a comparable setting.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
