Location: Odessa, TX
Start Date: December 2, 2025
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 4x12-Hour (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Job Details

- Schedule: Every other weekend, 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Orientation: 36 hours

- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Charting System: Cerner experience preferred
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years L&D RN experience
- Previous Charge Experience: Required
- Travel Experience: Not required
- Certifications (Required):
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Skills
- Labor & Delivery Management:
- Assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries
- Circulate for C-sections
- Forceps/vacuum extraction
- Hemorrhage/shock management
- Recovery of C-sections
- Maternal Care:
- Magnesium sulfate therapy
- Pitocin administration
- Insulin drips
- Antihypertensive and antiseizure medications
- Newborn & Postpartum Care:
- APGAR scoring
- Immediate newborn care
- Breastfeeding and lactation support
- Fundus/lochia/perineum care
- Monitoring & Assessment:
- External fetal monitoring (EFM)
- Internal monitoring (IUPC, spiral electrode)*
- NST/OCT testing
- Reflex and edema assessment
(*preferred skills)
Patient Population
- Neonates and adult patients
- Average unit size: 17 beds
- Patient ratio: 1:2 in L&D
Additional Details
- Float/Call Requirements: None
- Local Rule: Travelers must live 50+ miles from the facility
- Charting Experience: Cerner preferred
Job Description Summary:
Seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN with AWHONN Fetal Monitoring, NRP, and ACLS certifications for a night shift contract beginning in December. Candidates must have at least two years of recent L&D experience and prior charge nurse experience.
