Position Summary
The PICU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The RN utilizes advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and compassionate care to stabilize and treat young patients with life-threatening conditions, while collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality, age-appropriate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on patient needs.
• Manage and monitor ventilators, central lines, arterial lines, and other critical care equipment.
• Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies according to protocols.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Provide education and emotional support to families regarding treatment plans and post-discharge care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system.
• Adhere to all infection control, safety, and hospital policy standards.
Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or pediatric critical care experience (hospital setting).
• Strong pediatric assessment and emergency response skills.
• Experience managing ventilated patients and multiple high-acuity cases.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and family-centered care approach.
