RN – Stepdown – Contract – Mount Sinai Hospital

Facility: Mount Sinai Hospital
Location: 1468 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10029
Start Date: December 15, 2025 (or ASAP upon credentialing)
Duration: 9 Weeks (Estimated End Date: February 14, 2026)
Shift: Days– 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Mix of Cardiac Stepdown, Surgery Stepdown, and Medicine Stepdown; every other weekend

Position Overview:
The Stepdown unit at Mount Sinai Hospital provides specialized care for patients transitioning from ICU or requiring high-acuity monitoring. The Clinical Nurse (RN) delivers safe, competent, and quality nursing care based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational standards. Responsibilities include patient assessment, critical thinking in care management, collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, patient and family education, quality and safety initiatives, and participation in operational and professional development activities.

Requirements:

Licensure: NYS RN License – Required
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years RN experience – Required
- Minimum 2 years cardiology, telemetry, VAD experience – Required
Patient Ratio Experience: 1:2 – Preferred/Applicable to Stepdown
EMR/Charting System: EPIC experience highly preferred
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate degree accepted with relevant experience or active matriculation in a BSN program

Certifications:

BLS (AHA) – Required
ACLS (AHA) – Preferred
