RN - PCU/STEPDOWN
- Shift: 12H Nights, 12 hr nights
- Description: Unit Notes
- Department: CVU
- Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles
- Fingernail policy: Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract
- RN Pass/Fail exam during orientation; open book on skills learned, must receive 90% to pass
- of Beds: 18
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4, 1:3 for post surgical patients in the first 24 hours
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients; supports thoracic program, EP, cath lab, structural heart; Cath Lab, CVAs, CHF, A fib RVR, and other cardiac/vascular diagnoses
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: 1 year with this patient population
- RNs required to titrate drips: Yes
- Common titratable/set rate drips: Amio, nitro, nicardipine, epi, cardizem, multiple BP medications
- Charge Nurse on each shift: Yes, rare to take assignment
- Nurse aids/patient care techs on unit: Yes, ratio 1:18
- Hospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7: Yes; Cardiology on call after hours
- RT in ICU 24/7: Yes
- RT Equipment: BiPAP, CPAP, Nasal Cannula; RNs troubleshoot as needed
- Tele/Monitor Techs: Remote tele techs, tele hardwired and tele box capabilities; RNs read and interpret strips
- Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1900, 1830-0700; Manager schedules, no block/self-scheduling
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
- Call/standby requirement: N/A
- Floating Requirements: Will float to all same or lower acuity levels
- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue
- Unit/department specific orientation: Tailored to needs, 1-2 shifts on unit
- RTO: Needed upfront (7 or less days per 13-week contract); additional RTO not approved
- Cancellation Policy: Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 shifts for <13 week assignments
