Critical Care RN – Role Overview Critical Care Registered Nurses provide specialized care to patients experiencing life-threatening medical conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, shock, severe trauma, respiratory distress, and other critical illnesses. Primary Responsibilities: • Assess patient conditions and develop/implement individualized care plans • Treat wounds and provide advanced life support • Assist physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures • Observe, document, and interpret patient vital signs • Ensure proper operation of ventilators, monitors, IABP, and other medical equipment; adjust settings as needed • Administer IV fluids, medications, and manage complex drips • Perform airway management, including suctioning • Collaborate with interdisciplinary members of the critical care team • Respond to emergency, life-saving situations following established nursing protocols • Function as a patient advocate • Educate and support patient families • Provide care for pre- and post-operative critical patients • Some critical care nurses may also serve as case managers, policy developers, or take on administrative roles Facility Requirements • Must have recent LTACH experience, including trach and vent management • Required Certifications: AHA BLS and AHA ACLS (must be attached at submission) • Required License: OH RN or multistate RN license (must be attached to résumé) MANDATORY SUBMISSION TEMPLATE All submissions MUST use the format below or they will be rejected.
