Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN) – Job Description

The MS/Tele RN provides high-quality nursing care to adult patients with diverse medical conditions while monitoring cardiac rhythms and responding to changes in patient status. This role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple patients in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac rhythms on telemetry monitors
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and update care plans as needed
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per physician orders
• Manage multiple patients and prioritize care effectively
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition, including telemetry alerts
• Maintain accurate electronic health record (EHR) documentation
• Follow all hospital policies, safety protocols, and evidence-based procedures

Requirements

• Minimum 2 year of recent MS/Tele or acute care experience (depending on facility)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Proficiency with telemetry monitoring equipment
