Radius Rule

• 50-mile radius restriction
• Candidate cannot have worked Full-Time, Part-Time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit / CHI / Dignity facility within the last year

Unit Overview

Critical Care Service Line

• CVICU: 12 beds
• COVID ICU: 8 beds
• MS ICU: 8 beds
• PCU: 16 beds (up to 20 with double occupancy)

Ratios

• ICU: 1:1–1:2
• PCU: 1:3–1:4

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS

Must-Have Experience

Candidate should be strong in:

• EKG interpretation
• ABG interpretation
• Vent troubleshooting & weaning
• Critical care drips
• Floating across ICU/PCU environments

Highly Preferred

• IABP
• Prismaflex CRRT

Skills Checklist Expectations

Manager prefers candidates with 3–4 of the following checked:

• EVD
• Chest tubes
• Arterial lines
• Swan-Ganz
• Impella
• TAVR
• VAD
• STEMI / PCI
• CRRT
• Open heart recovery

Travelers may take fresh open-heart patients if experienced.

Common Patient Types

• COVID/manual proning
• DKA
• Sepsis
• ARF
• Rhabdo
• Post-MI
• Detox
• Surgical cardiac patients
• Low neuro patients

Drips

RNs titrate all standard ICU drips including:

• Levophed
• Propofol
• Paralytics
• Dopamine
• Heparin
• Argatroban
• Antiarrhythmics

Respiratory / Equipment

Candidate should know:

• Vent management
• BiPAP / CPAP
• HFNC / Vapotherm
• GlideScope familiarity

RT not dedicated in ICU 24/7.

Telemetry

• Nurses read their own strips
• No monitor techs
• Monitor system: Nihon Kohden

Scheduling

• 7a–7p / 7p–7a
• Schedule made 4 weeks ahead
• First schedule fills unit gaps
• Block scheduling generally not allowed

Weekend Requirement

• 4 weekend shifts per pay period

Holiday Requirement

• 1 winter holiday + eve of another holiday

Floating

Traveler participates in float rotation:

• ICU
• PCU
• MST
• EC ICU/PCU
