Position Breakdown – Case Manager (LMSW/LCSW) | UMMC

Schedule

• Shift: 12-Hour Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Work Pattern: Every Wednesday & Thursday, plus every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Guaranteed Hours: 36/48-hour rotating schedule every two weeks

Example:

• Week 1: Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun = 60 hours
• Week 2: Wed, Thu = 24 hours
• Two-week total = 84 hours (average 42 hours/week)

• Acute Care Hospital
• Level 1 Trauma Center
• Largest hospital in Mississippi
• Academic Medical Center
• Charting System: Epic
• Caseload: 15–20 patients per day

Required Qualifications

Licensure

• Active LMSW or LCSW
• Active Mississippi State License

Experience

• Minimum 2 years Acute Inpatient Case Management
• At least 1 year in a large hospital (500+ beds)
• Experience in a Level 1 Trauma or Academic Medical Center
• Previous travel assignment experience in a Level 1 facility
• Recent acute inpatient case management experience (within last 2 years)

Must Have Skills

• Acute inpatient case management
• Discharge planning
• ED discharge planning
• Epic EMR
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal training

Orientation & Training

• Approximately 2 weeks
• Includes facility orientation
• Minimal unit training
• Expected to learn quickly and function independently
• Works alongside the Case Management team and is never completely alone

Additional Facility Requirements

• 50-mile radius rule applies to travelers
• Local candidates accepted at $70/hour
• Flu vaccine required
  • Medical exemptions only
  • Must provide documented severe reaction history
• Fingerprinting required
  • Remote process: allow 10 days
  • In-person available at Jackson or Grenada campus

Interview Process

• WebEx video interview
• Approximately 20–30 minutes
• Candidate must provide availability within 72 business hours of submission

Discharge Planning Resources

• Respiratory Therapy consulted as needed
• Pharmacy consulted as needed
• UMMC maintains agreements with local facilities for complex patient placements

Certifications Required

• BLS Certification
