🕒 Scheduling & Shifts

• Shift: 12 hours Days OR night ( you can apply any shift or both)
•  

📅 Requirements

• Certifications:
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required
  • NIHSS preferred
• Weekends: Every other or ~4 per month
• Holidays: Rotating (major holidays included)
• Floating: Possible within facility rotation
• Call: None
• Scrubs: Navy blue

🏥 Unit Overview

• Type: High-acuity cardiac / cardiothoracic stepdown unit
• Beds: 24
• Focus: Pre/post cardiac and vascular procedures

👩‍⚕️ Staffing & Ratios

• RN ratios:
  • Days: 1:4
  • Nights: 1:4–5
• Charge RN:
  • Days: does not take patients
  • Nights: takes 1–2 patients
• NA/PCT ratio:
  • Days: 1:8
  • Nights: 1:12
• Monitor techs: Yes (RN does not need to interpret strips independently)

❤️ Patient Population

• Pre/post:
  • Cardiac cath (radial/femoral)
  • PCI, stents
  • Pacemakers, ICDs
  • CABG (24 hrs post-op)
  • Cardioversions
  • Vascular procedures
• Other high-acuity:
  • NSTEMI
  • Chest tubes
  • Tracheostomies (including vented patients)
  • Bipap/CPAP patients
• Note: Pacer wires typically pulled in ICU before transfer

💉 Drips & Medications

• Common drips:
  • Cardizem
  • Amiodarone
  • Nitro
  • Integrilin
  • Dopamine (non-titratable in this setting)
  • Dobutamine (non-titratable in this setting)
• Titration: Some drips are titratable, but not all (as above)

🧠 Required Skills / Experience

• Must have strong cardiac stepdown experience:
  • Pre/post CABG
  • Stents, pacemakers, ICDs
  • PCI and vascular procedures
• Comfortable with high-acuity post-op cardiac patients

🫁 Respiratory Support

• Bipap, CPAP, and home ventilators
• Home vent experience preferred but not required
