Job Opportunity: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Location: Oakland, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evenings (4 days per week, Monday - Thursday)
Hours: 4x8 hour shifts, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (32 hours/week)


Job Description

  • Provide social services primarily for Pediatric Emergency Department and Inpatient units.
  • Ability to float to other facilities within the health system.
  • Work environment includes pediatric and neonatal intensive care units (NICU), medical-surgical, and emergency department settings.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in California.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker experience within the last year.
  • Case management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in pediatric hospital settings, including Pediatrics and NICU.
  • Experience in Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department environments.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • Current and valid government-issued photo ID matching professional license.
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search, and education verification.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work.
  • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, renewed every 2 years.
  • Immunizations and titers as required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted except medical exemptions)
    • Negative TB tests (2 required: one within 1 year, one within 3 months of start) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines; history of disease not accepted)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination (required during flu season)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required).
  • COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required as of current policy.

Competency & Skills Testing

  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually.
  • Medication and pharmacology competency exam with a passing score of 80% or higher.
  • Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) with passing scores of 80% or higher, updated annually.
  • Pass/fail testing on medication and telemetry exams on orientation day (specific to nursing roles; social workers may have different requirements).

Background & Employment History

  • Verification of 7 years of work history matching resume; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained.
  • Two supervisory references required, preferably from the most recent employment.
  • Current and updated resume including last 7 years of work history required.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to complete required learning modules and training prior to or during orientation.
  • Completion of facility-specific forms including emergency contact information, cyber security awareness training, and confidentiality agreements as applicable.
  • Compliance with facility COVID-19 preparedness protocols and questionnaires prior to start.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training may be required depending on unit assignment.

Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to work evening shifts with a consistent Monday through Thursday schedule.
  • Ability to float to other units/facilities is expected.
  • Spanish language skills are preferred but not mandatory.
  • This is a travel/contract position requiring flexibility and adaptability to different pediatric care environments.
