Pathology Assistant - Morgantown, West Virginia

Job Details

Specialty: Pathology Assistant
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Work Hours: Primarily 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Shift: Day shift
Weekend/Holiday/Call Requirements: None

Job Description

Work in Gross Room locations including Main Ruby, Children's Hospital, and upcoming Innovation Corp (opening July 2026)
Ability to gross simple and complex tissue specimens, including frozen sections
Fast-paced academic environment
Experience with Epic (LIS System: Epic Beaker AP) is helpful
Use of equipment such as Cryostat, bone saw, scalpels/knives

Required Qualifications

Certification: Certified Pathologist's Assistant (PA) via ASCP Verification
License: BLS (AHA) certification preferred but not required
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pathology Assistant
Other: Ability to handle increasing complexity and volume of cases

Additional Information

Hospital scrubs provided
Department-specific orientation and training provided by current Pathology Assistants
No requirement to perform phlebotomy or be a generalist

Pros

Units are traveler friendly, ratios 1:2 ICU, 1:3 SD, 1:5-6 Floor. Epic charting system, lots of resources and ancillary services available at most times. Easy to reach out to docs, docs are hit and miss on good communication like most places. Usually have float nurses in the ICU units to help out.

Cons

Common to get pulled as a traveler but wont pull ICU to anywhere but other ICU and SD.
