Unit Information

Unit: A3 West Med Surg Telemetry
Number of Beds: 38
Staffing (Day Shift): 1 Charge RN, 6-7 RNs, 1 LPN, 3 PCTs, 1 Unit Secretary
Staffing (Night Shift): 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 1 LPN, 2-3 PCTs, HUC part-time
Patient Ratios:
- Day: 6:1 (goal for charge nurse to assist)
- Night: 7:1
Equipment Used: Baxter IV pumps, Wound vacs, SCDS, prima-fits, primo-fits
EMR System: Cerner Powerchart

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
Medical-surgical nursing experience
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

Job Responsibilities & Skills

Perform peripheral IV starts
Dressing changes
Other standard medical-surgical nursing skills
Work as a team player with a positive attitude and willingness to help others proactively

Work Environment & Schedule

Floating assignments to other medical-surgical units and ED holding medical/surgical patients
Dress Code: Navy or white scrubs (all navy, all white, or white top with navy pants)
Weekend shifts: Approximately 6 weekend shifts every 6-week schedule (about every other weekend)
Travelers float before permanent staff
