Registered Nurse (RN) – Float / Med Surg (Nights)

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Float between Medical-Surgical and Stepdown units.
• Patient ratios:

  • Days/Evenings: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
  • Nights: 1 nurse to 6 patients
• Types of patients include all med surg and stepdown cases.
• Bed size varies by unit.
• Must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
• Orientation available on specified dates.
• EMR system used: EPIC.
• Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 36 months of progressive care, stepdown, or medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Experience administering nitroglycerin, heparin, amiodarone including titrations.
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with EPIC EMR system.
• Skills checklist specific to progressive care, stepdown, or med surg/medical surgical discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

• Stepdown experience.
• Critical care experience.
• Neurology care experience.
• Oncology care experience.
• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months.

Additional Information

• Clinical interview pre-screening conducted via phone/text from a specific area code.
• Employee separation policy restricts certain past employees from travel assignments in this market.
• Night shift position.
• New graduate orientation (NBO) is 16 hours.
• Call back and on-call pay available.
• Float between Med Surg and Stepdown units.
