Position Overview

• Role: PACU Registered Nurse (RN)
• Shift: Variable start times, primarily day shift with on-call duties including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Housing: Free shared housing provided on the island (no pets, no smoking, no overnight guests)
• Vaccination Requirements: Must have current flu and COVID-19 vaccines

Key Requirements and Credentials

Vaccinations & Health

• COVID-19 Vaccine: Completed primary FDA or WHO-approved series or up-to-date vaccine if primary series incomplete. No exemptions allowed.
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30). No exemptions allowed.
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of vaccines or proof of immunity required.
• Hepatitis B: Strongly preferred to have vaccination record or proof of immunity; declination accepted.
• Tdap: Preferred vaccine within the last 10 years.
• TB Testing: Documentation of TB skin test or negative blood test within 3 months of start date; updated if >6 month break. If positive, chest x-ray required.
• Health Statement: Physician-signed statement within 365 days of start date; updated if >6 month break.
• Respirator Medical Clearance (RMC) Attestation: Required prior to fit testing and updated with medical status changes.
• Fit Test: N95 fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually. No religious exemptions.

Professional Credentials & Background Checks

• License/Certificate Verification: Primary source verification of professional license(s) within 30 days of start date; MA Conditional Licenses not accepted.
• Criminal Background Check: Must be completed within 45 days prior to start date, including seven years of address/employment/school history and international searches if applicable.
• Massachusetts CORI Check: Required within 30 days prior to start date.
• National Sex Offender Registry Check: Conducted within 30 days prior to start date and annually.
• Exclusion Checks: Screening against OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid exclusion lists.
• Social Security Number Trace: Required with criminal background check.
• Education Verification: Verification of highest level of education achieved.
• References: Two recent references required, including at least one supervisor or above.

Documentation & Submission Requirements

• Resume: Must include past 7 years of work experience with city and state details.
• Skills Checklist: Required for submission.
• Submission Checklist: Required for submission.
• Confirmation of Assignment/POI Form: Required for all initial assignments and extensions.

Certifications

• BLS Certification: Required (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted; AHA preferred by some hospitals).

Additional Notes

• Must comply with all vaccine and health screening requirements without exemptions for religious or medical reasons.
• Housing agreement required if moving into shared Martha’s Vineyard Hospital housing.
• Fit testing cannot be done onsite except for assignment extensions on Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket due to limited resources.

This position is ideal for RNs experienced in PACU who are flexible with variable shifts and call responsibilities, and who meet stringent health and credentialing requirements.
