Registered Nurse (IR)

Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours per Week: 36 (2x10hr shifts & 2x8hr shifts OR all 8s; 07:00-15:30 and 06:00-16:30)


Job Summary

  • Work in Interventional Radiology (IR) department with 2 labs.
  • Manage conscious sedation autonomously, including charting, circulating, and pre/post procedure care.
  • Patient types include inpatient, outpatient, and emergent cases such as Stroke Thrombectomy, Embolizations, Lines, Tubes, Biopsies, Chest Tubes, etc.
  • Average 5-10 cases per day.
  • Use EPIC EMR and Philips Xper (Hemo), Siemens C-Arm equipment.
  • Intensivist MD in-house 24/7; IR physician always available with on-call after hours.
  • Team Lead and supervisor present on each shift.
  • IR Techs support the team.
  • Team scheduling posted 17 days prior for 6 weeks at a time.

Call and Scheduling Requirements

  • Weeknight call: 1-2 days per week
  • Weekend call: Every third weekend
  • Holiday call: Every other holiday
  • Call response time: 30 minutes
  • Floating: Radiology pre/post procedures

Orientation and Additional Information

  • One week of unit/department-specific orientation (classroom and lab).
  • Lead provided for the role.
  • Bring your own lock for locker and hospital-designated shoes.
  • Scrub color and dress code provided.

Required Certifications and Skills

  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) knowledge preferred.
  • Radiation badge must be supplied and in hand prior to start.
  • Moderate sedation experience required.
  • Strong teamwork and willingness to assist as needed.

Other Requirements

  • Radius rule: Must live within 50 miles.
  • Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any related facilities within the specified health system network.
  • Return to work (RTO) required within 7 days or less from contract start; no extensions allowed.
