Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry

Location

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Day shift, 3 shifts per week
  • 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
  • Weekend work required every other weekend; flexibility needed based on unit needs

Patient Population

  • Medicine, cardiology, telemetry, surgical/vascular patients
  • Also includes ortho, neuro/neurological, gynecology, urology, trauma, and vulnerable populations

Unit and Facility Highlights

  • Magnet-designated, teaching hospital, Level I trauma center
  • Approximately 500 staffed beds
  • Charting system: Epic (mandatory use)
  • Scrub color: Any solid color; light blue scrubs provided on unit
  • Parking available onsite and offsite with shuttle service (details provided separately)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Washington
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Work Expectations

  • Ratio: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients during the day; 1:4-5 at night
  • Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is expected
  • Block scheduling accommodations are not available

Competency and Testing Requirements

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam) required with a passing score of 80% or higher; only two attempts allowed
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required with minimum 80% in dosage calculations
  • Orientation testing is pass/fail with an 80% passing threshold; failure results in cancellation
  • Additional competency exams may be required depending on unit assignment

Background and Screening Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check including nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific searches
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Drug screening within past 12 months (pending drug screens at start are at clinical lead discretion)
  • WA State license complaint clearance required for all using a Washington license
  • Two professional references required

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year (not required by facility but needed for agency)
  • Mask fit test within 12 months (specific mask models required)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or documented declination
  • Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer or declination; vaccine series plus confirmatory titer required)
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Sept 29 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes

Facility-Specific Documentation

  • Badge photo meeting professional criteria required
  • Signed acknowledgments for license, equipment safety, policies and procedures, job description, PCIS agreement, personal data form, and code of conduct
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and training prior to start date (approx. 2-3 hours)
  • Annual stroke education modules required for RNs working in neuro and MS/Telemetry units

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg telemetry RNs with strong telemetry skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, Level I trauma teaching hospital environment. Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be considered.
