Job Description

• Position: Labor and Delivery RN
• Start: ASAP
• Shift: Days, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12), with call depending on census
• Schedule: Every other weekend required; blocked scheduling is acceptable
• Scrub Color: Navy blue
• Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 3 patients
• Experience: Minimum 2 years required; first-time travelers accepted
• Must clock in and out to receive payment
• Previously employed CAMC permanent staff must wait 2 years before being hired as a traveler
• Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• American Heart Association (AHA) approved certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
  • AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
• Cerner experience preferred

Scheduling & Attendance Policy

• Any missed shift requires a make-up shift during the same work week if possible, or during the same pay period if not

Immunization & Health Requirements

• Flu vaccine is mandatory during the 2024-2025 flu season (October 2024 - March 2025) with no declinations accepted
• Other required immunizations and health documents include:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (acceptable masks: 3M N95 models)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within the past 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 3 months of start) or annual TB questionnaire for positive responders
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Varicella, Mumps, Rubella, and Hepatitis B
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory; proof of vaccination or signed declination accepted

Compliance & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID required (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background check within 1 year of start, updated annually (7-year search including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry)
• Annual verification of EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG databases
• Skills checklist and competency exams required annually
• Pass/fail testing for medication administration, blood administration, and EKG during orientation (2 attempts allowed)
• Facility-specific documents and learning modules must be completed prior to start
• All required licenses, certifications, and current flu vaccination documentation must be submitted for approval

Additional Notes

• Candidates must include permanent home address and be located more than 75 miles from the facility
• Flu vaccination will be available onsite at no cost
• Medical exemption requests for flu vaccine require documentation and approval by CAMC review board
• Candidates not compliant with flu vaccine deadline may be removed from assignment or terminated
