Child Life Specialist
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Mid (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM)
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Work Setting: Split time between two facilities (inpatient and outpatient)
Job Summary
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate psychosocial needs of patients and families from neonatal to 17 years old (Neonates, Pediatric, Adolescent).
- Provide psychosocial support tailored to patient and family needs.
- Plan and coordinate activities to promote social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth using age-appropriate developmental principles.
- Advocate for patients and families.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Education, or another health-related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Child Life Specialist, including experience within the last year.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.

Poor staffing, floating to other units sometimes all three shifts, little support from management. The AMN (Charge) is responsible for 59 patient rooms, which could be 118 patients. Resources are stretched too thin.
