Heart & Vascular Sonographer - Cincinnati, Ohio

Job Summary

Perform non-invasive ultrasound testing in vascular and echocardiography modalities. Provide excellent patient care, act as an educational resource, participate in research and procedures, and work with the latest equipment and technology in a supportive environment.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform non-invasive vascular and/or echocardiography testing following established protocols.
  • Produce high-quality study images and data using imaging and accessory equipment.
  • Obtain appropriate patient history prior to each test.
  • Ensure supporting documentation for exams.
  • Assess ultrasound orders and notify appropriate personnel if revisions are needed.
  • Explain testing procedures to patients, family members, and hospital staff.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with clients and coworkers.
  • Efficiently provide services and collaborate with peers to maximize productivity.
  • Schedule add-on and emergency exams to maintain workflow.
  • Communicate with patient care areas for proper patient preparation and timely patient transport.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adequate supply stock in assigned areas.
  • Report equipment maintenance needs and operate equipment safely.
  • Follow quality control standards and participate in departmental process improvement activities.
  • Participate in peer review and attend department meetings.
  • Stay current with testing protocols and continuing education requirements.
  • Comply with hospital and departmental safety, education, and in-service requirements.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate from an accredited Ultrasound training program.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements as set forth by ARDMS, CCI, ICAVL, and ICAE.

Certifications & Licensure

  • ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or
  • ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or
  • CCI Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or
  • CCI Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS)
  • BLS (American Heart Association)

Experience & Skills

  • Current knowledge of technology and clinical advances related to cardiac and/or vascular sonography.
  • Working knowledge of accreditation, credentialing, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Basic understanding of imager configuration, DICOM standards, networking, and medical records.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with hospital management, physicians, and technologists.
