Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (RN) - Burn Trauma Surgical ICU
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (12 weeks)
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Job Description
- Provide nursing care for adult and pediatric patients in a burn trauma surgical ICU.
- Primary RN Care model with nursing ratios:
- 1:2 for critical care patients.
- 1:1 for burn trauma code 1 admissions, high acuity, and post-operative patients.
- Responsibilities include:
- Invasive hemodynamic monitoring (at least every 1 hour).
- IV drip titration.
- Nurse-driven burn fluid resuscitation following the Parkland formula.
- Ventilator management.
- Continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH).
- Hourly pulse and flap Doppler checks.
- Initial debridement and dressing changes.
- Conscious sedation.
- Surgical recovery care.
- Management of epidural pumps.
Required Qualifications
- License: Current RN license verified through Nursys within 30 days prior to start.
- Certifications:
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (American Heart Association)
- Experience: Minimum years of experience in ICU nursing not explicitly stated; expect critical care competency.
- Exams and Competency:
- Pharmacology exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years).
- Specialty exam in ICU nursing (minimum 80% or national benchmark, updated every 3 years).
- EKG exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years).
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years).

- Health and Immunizations:

- Varicella: Proof of immunity or two vaccines; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season, mask required.
- TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray and annual questionnaire.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (annual).
- Health statement or physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Professional Requirements:
- Resume/profile submission.
- Two professional references.
- Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG, National Sex Offender, and others within 90 days of start.
- Employment verification for past 7 years.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work.
- Confirmation of assignment documentation.
- Badge photo (forward-facing, white or blue background, no alterations).
- Additional:
- Driver’s license or state ID (valid, matching address requirements).
- Completion of onboarding education attestation.
- Annual updates and re-verifications as required.
