Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer - Travel/Contract

Location: Mooresville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
• Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• On-Call Requirement: Monday-Friday every other week
• Equipment Experience: Required experience with GE equipment
• Community hospital experience required
• First-time travelers and local candidates within 75 miles are welcome

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Technician
• Echo Technician experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support, AHA only)
• Licensure: Must hold the appropriate state license for Sonographer role
• Physical and health requirements:

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months
  • Required vaccinations and titers: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination), Polio vaccine or attestation
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with documentation if history of positive PPD)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start (no instant tests)

Orientation & Onboarding

• Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Competency exam and unit-specific competency checklists required
• Must complete online modules prior to orientation
• Must set up a facility-specific Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems

Background & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 90 days of start, including:

  • SSN trace, county searches for past 7 years, sex offender, international searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days
• Education verification required: Must have graduated from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program
• Employment application and 7 years of work history required
• Two professional references from employment within 12 months of start, including at least one supervisor
• Drug test, physical exam, immunizations, and certifications must be current and on file before start

Additional Notes

• Candidate must be prepared for call coverage and weekend shifts as outlined
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted
• Local candidates within 75 miles considered with a different pay rate (not included here)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card training may be provided onsite if required by unit
• Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication knowledge administered at orientation (passing score 80%)
