Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Auburn, New York
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
Floating: Required as per facility needs

Job Summary

• Fast-track offer available for candidates who can start ASAP without requested time off (RTO) and meet all clinical requirements.
• No blocked scheduling.
• Candidates requiring RTO or delayed start will undergo standard review.
• Call-off policy allows up to 3 shifts off during the 13-week assignment.
• Automatic disqualification if nursing license has any hits or is not approved.
• Candidates without a current NY license may be submitted if they have applied and provide the application date.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience within the past year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with use of Rapid Response and Code teams

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years (complete results required before start)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start
• Primary source verification of NY nursing license before start and upon expiration
• NURSYS verification prior to start
• Physical exam within 12 months signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties
• Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (approved mask types specified)
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years or declination
  • Negative TB test (PPD, T-Spot, or QGold) within 1 year or chest x-ray if prior positive
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Varicella immunity (2 vaccines, positive titer, or documented history)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine records or declination
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant/rapid accepted)
• Annual tuberculosis screening questionnaire
• Facility-specific documents including code of conduct, patient abuse reporting, confidentiality agreement, orientation packet acknowledgment, and automated dispensing cabinet security training
• Skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• Two professional references within 3 years of hire
• Compliance with New York State Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List requirements

Additional Notes

• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at time of submittal; no RTO approved after offer. Traveler responsible for shift coverage if needed.
• Nurses are responsible for independently measuring and interpreting telemetry strips as facility does not employ telemetry technicians.
