Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Weekend Requirement: As needed per facility
Floating: Required as per facility needs

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab
• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations (adult patients) including left and right heart catheterization
• Monitor Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz catheters
• Administer and monitor procedural sedation
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Responsible for telemetry strip measurement and cardiac rhythm interpretation (no telemetry technicians employed)
• Must pass a telemetry assessment with a minimum score of 80% on the first day of orientation; remediation provided if needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience within the last year
• Experience with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations (adult patients), including left and right heart catheterization
• Proficient in Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz catheter monitoring
• Ability to administer and monitor procedural sedation independently
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, updated annually

Required Skills / Competencies

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Telemetry cardiac rhythm strip interpretation

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years (including SSN trace, nationwide, and sex offender registry)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start
• Primary source verification of NYS RN license and NURSYS verification
• Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties
• Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (approved mask types specified)
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • TDAP vaccine within last 10 years or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Measles, mumps, rubella immunity (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Varicella immunity (2 vaccines, positive titer, or documented history)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine records or declination
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant/rapid accepted)
• Stroke education: 2 hours minimum stroke education including NIH Stroke Scale training, updated annually
• Completion of facility-specific documents including code of conduct, patient abuse reporting, confidentiality agreement, orientation packet acknowledgment, automated dispensing cabinet security, and annual tuberculosis screening questionnaire
• Skills checklist and 2 professional references within 3 years required
• New York State Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List checks required

Additional Information

• Call-off policy allows up to 3 missed shifts during the 13-week assignment
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with application; no RTO approved after offer
• Candidate must review and sign all facility-specific policies and agreements prior to start
