Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: May float within scope depending on experience; no floating to sister facilities
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Pediatric, Neonate, and Infant patients
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card
  • Completed and accurate I-9 form with work eligibility attestation
  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • Statewide and national criminal checks
    • Sex offender registry
    • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
  • South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers search
  • Primary source verification of active, unencumbered SC RRT license
  • Two clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Last 3 clinical employers verified through a third-party vendor (attestation letters accepted if verification not possible)

Certifications & Competencies

  • Certifications must be current and not expire within 30 days of start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
  • Color blindness testing required prior to start
  • Competency exam required
  • Orientation and safety manual acknowledgements required
  • Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Radiation badge required only if assigned to units requiring it (not typical for RRT Pediatrics)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Initial physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with follow-up chest x-ray
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunity or vaccination proof for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form

Facility & Orientation Information

  • Teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma designation
  • Total staffed beds: 865
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Parking available at night and weekends for a one-time fee
  • Hurricane season (June–November) may require emergency response team participation
  • Orientation modules and first day instructions provided prior to start; must be completed before orientation
  • Passport-style badge photo required before start (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire)

  • Radius rule: 60 miles; local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
