Staff Nurse - Night Shift

Location: Norwich, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with nursing standards and professional development according to the New York State Nurse Practice Act and relevant nursing codes of ethics and standards. The role promotes a caring, patient-centered environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, serving as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
  • Administer medications safely with knowledge of pharmacology.
  • Participate in resource management including staffing, time, supplies, and services.
  • Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support Nursing Shared Governance Model through unit council participation, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
  • Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
  • Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide a supportive learning environment for new staff and students.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.
  • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
  • Additional relevant certifications such as TNCC as required by the assigned unit.

Work Schedule

  • Night shift
  • 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours per week
