Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Provide respiratory therapy services in an in-patient acute hospital setting.
- Work primarily in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
- No on-call responsibilities.
- Unit accepts first-time travel therapists.
- EPIC electronic health record experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Oregon.
- Minimum 1.5 years of respiratory therapy experience.
- Respiratory therapy experience within the last year.
- Pediatric respiratory therapist experience.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA provider only).
Experience & References
- Prior travel experience is not required.
- Two (2) manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required, showing direct supervision.
- If one reference within 24 months is unavailable, a second reference dated within 3–5 years may be accepted with proper documentation.
- At least 7 years of detailed work history (including city and state) required for background screening.
Compliance & Background Checks
- Background check must be completed within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification.
- National Sex Offender Search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days prior to start.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel test including methamphetamines within 3 months prior to start; lab-based and SAMHSA certified.
- No open court cases allowed.
- Personal criminal history statement required if any convictions appear on background check.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test (2 Step-PPD, TSPOT, or QGOLD) within 12 months prior to start; chest x-ray and annual TB questionnaire required if positive TB history.
- TB questionnaire required for all candidates.
- Immunity or vaccination (or signed declination) required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (full series or declination)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap preferred)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required by December 1, 2025.
- Fit mask testing required within one year prior to start (N95 or equivalent); onsite fit testing not available.
- Physical exam required to meet Aya Healthcare standards (within 1 year of start).
Competencies & Training
- Must complete facility-specific compliance and orientation modules prior to start.
- Medication override test provided for RNs during orientation (not required before start).
- Stroke CEUs required annually for certain units (not specifically for this role).
- Competency exam with a required score of 85% or higher.
- Color blindness testing not required for this specialty.
