Job Opportunity: Utilization Review Nurse

Location: Santa Rosa, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (5x8 hours), 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40


Job Description

  • Remote Utilization Review Registered Nurse role.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Case Management, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience in Utilization Review.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Health Documents

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation.
  • Immunizations and screenings:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives or declination.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements).
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives or declination.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination.
    • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to infection prevention measures.
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable).
  • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024.
  • Fit mask test required for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024, updated annually.

Competencies and Training

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Competency exams required by specialty/unit.
  • EFM training or certification required for Labor & Delivery RNs.
  • Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp), including:
    • Annual regulatory requirements for all caregivers.
    • Specialty-specific modules for Hospice/Home Health/Assisted Living, ER, L&D, and Interim Leadership roles.
    • Regional core and specialty-specific modules for California and other applicable regions.
  • Epic training transcripts required for certain hospital systems and locations.

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Social Security Card (as applicable for I9 verification).
  • E-Verify attestation required.
  • Float policy acknowledgment: may be required to float to other facilities within reasonable distance.
  • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background may be required depending on location.
