Job Opportunity: Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
• Hours per Week: 40 hours guaranteed
• Call Requirement: None
• Weekend Requirement: None
• Float Requirement: None
• Work Setting: Adult outpatient oncology/hematology infusion clinic
• Patient Care:

  • Utilize IV pumps and hoyer lifts for non-ambulatory patients
  • Chemotherapy infusion chairs that recline
  • Computer carts for bedside documentation
• Department:

  • Infusion area with 16 chairs and 6 bedrooms
  • Onsite chemotherapy/immunotherapy mixing pharmacy
  • Support team includes social worker, dietician, nurse navigator, survivor nurse, specialty pharmacy liaison, and pastoral care
  • Clinic attached to hospital with emergency services available

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
• Minimum of 1 year of Hematology/Oncology experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• E-Verify compliance per contract
• Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Drug testing: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of at least one prior Tdap vaccine)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable (within 30 days of start)
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no exemptions accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: titer, series, or facility declination required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/spiritual exemption (for candidates starting after November 1)
• References: One professional reference from a direct supervisor or manager required
• Employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
• Facility-specific documents including Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy acknowledgment

Additional Requirements

• Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions; verify if applicable
• Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric and certain specialty placements (not applicable for this adult oncology role)
• Fit mask testing required only if applicable to specific roles (not specified for this position)
• Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
