Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialist
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Clinical review and modified auto offer process; manager will make offer after clinical review and follow up with a call.
- Shift: Days
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Schedule: Every other weekend required; must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
- Unit uses a self-scheduling model; manager will explain but cannot guarantee preferred schedule
- Work setting: Children's hospital
- Must have Level 4 NICU experience
- Cardiac PICU experience preferred
Required Certifications and Licenses
- RRT certification required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required
- VA license pending acceptable if temporary license can be obtained before start; must have another state license for temp eligibility
- ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist) preferred
Preferred Experience
- Cardiac PICU experience preferred
Facility and Unit Information
- Working in a children's hospital setting
- Unit has a self-scheduling model
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and abuse registry search (if applicable)
- Drug testing within 2 months of start, including marijuana and fentanyl panels
- Physical exam and immunizations/vaccinations including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or Qgold acceptable)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer (positive required or additional antigen titer)
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions)
- Professional appearance guidelines and facility-specific compliance forms must be reviewed and acknowledged
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions and Mother-Baby units (not required for NICU, PICU, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, etc.)
- References and performance evaluations required for credentialing
- State-specific fingerprinting and child abuse registry checks required for certain units/roles
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
- Fingerprinting requirements may vary by unit and will be communicated if needed
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required for Behavioral Health nurses
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred
- Chemotherapy certification required only for oncology/infusion nurses (not applicable here)
