Memorial Hermann Hospital opened its doors in 1925 on the current site of the Texas Medical Center campus. It’s the primary teaching hospital for the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). As one of only two certified Level 1 trauma centers within the greater Houston area, Memorial Hermann provides 24/7 emergency care. Its Life Flight® service provides emergency rescue within a 150-mile radius.

Today, the Memorial Hermann Health System encompasses 17 hospitals with 4,233 licensed beds in Greater Houston. Its facilities include 11 acute care hospitals, a children’s hospital, an orthopedic hospital, two rehabilitation hospitals and two surgical hospitals.

In addition to hospitals, the private health system offers care through numerous ambulatory surgery centers, rehabilitation clinics, imaging centers, breast care centers and walk-in clinics. An additional nine Memorial Hermann urgent care centers operate as joint ventures.

The health system’s flagship location, Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, is the second-largest hospital in Texas, with 1,082 beds. Three parking garages with pay stations offer convenient staff parking on the medical campus. However, on-site parking fees can be expensive. Conversely, you may park at the Fannin South Park and Ride, pay a nominal parking rate and take the Metrorail to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
