Description
The Infusion Nurse provides critical outpatient infusion services to adult patients with hematologic, oncologic, or medical diagnoses. This role supports patient care within an ambulatory infusion center equipped with 25 infusion chairs, serving between 60 to 110 patients daily.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy and medical infusions, as well as blood transfusions.
- Utilize Alaris infusion pumps and CADD pumps for home infusion therapy.
- Perform phlebotomy and start peripheral IVs.
- Access and deaccess IVADs and manage PICC lines effectively.
- Support clinic operations alongside Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
- Participate in unit-specific procedures and protocols as required.
Schedule
This position is a full-time role with 10-hour shifts, 4 days a week, including a requirement to work every third Saturday. Orientation lasts for one week, with all necessary forms and learning competencies assigned prior to the start date.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in chemotherapy administration.
- Current ONS chemotherapy provider card and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA).
- Experience with accessing and deaccessing IVADs, managing PICC lines, and starting peripheral IVs.
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system is required.
- Prior travel experience is preferred.
- Must have separated from previous employment with a health system for at least 6 months and be in good standing to be considered.
Additional Information
Nursing ratios for this unit may vary based on departmental and facility demands, as well as the specifics of patient treatments. Each nurse is typically assigned 2-3 infusion chairs to manage during their shift.
Note: There may be occasions where floating to other locations is required based on staffing needs, although it is generally uncommon.
For attire, any color scrubs are acceptable.
