Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position. The therapist will be responsible for providing respiratory care and managing airway devices in various patient settings, including Adult Critical Care and NICU.

Shift Details

• Shift: Nights, 4x12 hours (18:30 - 07:00)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required; holiday coverage expected
• Float Requirement: Must be able to float between Adult and NICU

Responsibilities

The Registered Respiratory Therapist will perform the following duties:

• Utilize airway management devices, including endotracheal tubes and tracheostomy tubes
• Conduct suctioning procedures and pulmonary hygiene activities
• Participate in sputum specimen collection and arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
• Administer respiratory therapies using various medications including albuterol, nebulizers, and inhaled steroids
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators such as Draeger V500 and Servo U
• Assist in high-risk deliveries and umbilical blood gas assessments

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care; NICU experience preferred
• Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
• Current BLS and CRT certifications
• Active Maryland State licensure
• ED experience and ACLS certification preferred

Special Equipment

• Ventilators: Draeger V500, Servo U

Skills Required

• Proficient in airway management and suctioning techniques
• Ability to administer various medications via aerosol and inhalation
• Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Comfortable drawing and analyzing ABGs
• Familiarity with Cerner for charting

Additional Information

Scrubs will not be provided; scrub color is ceil blue. This is a short-term assignment at a teaching facility with a total of 338 staffed beds.
