Job Description

We are seeking an experienced CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for night shifts. This role requires a strong background in cardiac care, particularly with open heart post-operative patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
• Manage patients with hemodynamic instability and complex medical needs.
• Assist in the management of patients requiring advanced therapies such as ECMO, CRRT, and IABP.
• Collaborate with fellow healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in on-call rotations as required.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Maryland.
• Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience, including immediate post-operative care for open heart surgery patients.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIH.
• Preferred certifications: OCN and TCNN.

Work Schedule

• Shift: 3x12 Nights (19:00 - 07:30)
• Weekends: Every third weekend required.
• Holidays: Required as they fall.
• Floating: Potentially to MSICU as needed.

Additional Information

We maintain a low patient census with a maximum of 6 beds on the unit, allowing for a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio. The unit commonly cares for patients with diagnoses such as post-operative cardiac surgeries, structural heart procedures, and various cardiac emergencies. We utilize a collaborative approach to ensure the highest level of care for our patients.
