Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse with a specialty in Cardiac Telemetry. The ideal candidate will manage patient care related to various cardiovascular conditions and surgeries, ensuring high standards of nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor patients in a cardiac telemetry unit, assessing vital signs and cardiac rhythms.
- Provide care for patients with diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), and Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
- Assist with post-operative care for patients following CABG, TAVR, and other cardiac surgical procedures.
- Perform sheath removals and manage cardiac drips, with or without titration.
- Interpret dysrhythmias and manage appropriate interventions.
- Handle external CPAP/BIPAP and non-invasive airway management.
- Participate in unit rotation as required, with flexible weekend coverage.
- Contribute to emergency response teams as necessary during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required.
- Traveler experience is preferred unless the candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience.
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown nursing, and nursing care for post-myocardial infarction (MI).
- Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS is mandatory.
- Experience with arterial line management, wound care, and charge nurse responsibilities are preferred.
Patient Diagnoses and Procedures
- Atrial Fibrillation
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
- Cardiac Surgeries including CABG, AVR, MVR, and TAVR
- Post-cardiac catheterization recovery
- Management of chest tubes and vascular surgeries
Essential Equipment and Systems
- Familiarity with Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR for medication administration and communication.
- Experience with monitoring and managing arterial lines, chest tubes, and use of EKG equipment.
Unit Orientation and Additional Information
- 24 hours of orientation will be provided.
- Scrubs should be navy blue.
- This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including night shifts and weekend responsibilities.
