Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a telemetry unit specializing in orthopedic, urology, and neuro patients.
Shift Information
- Shift Type: Nights
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Telemetry
- Number of Beds: 29
- Nurse:Patient Ratios:
- Days: 1:4-5
- Nights: 1:5-6
- Common Diagnoses:
- Orthopedic Trauma (fractures, joint replacements)
- Vascular (fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy)
- Urology (TURP, TURBT, continuous bladder irrigation)
- Neuro-spine (laminectomy, fusion)
- OBGYN Oncology (TAH/OBS)
- Acute Medical cases
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience
- Certifications: Current BLS (AHA) certification required
Job Responsibilities
- Titrate medication drips, such as heparin, following a prescribed nomogram.
- Collaborate with telemetry technicians who monitor heart rhythms; RNs are not required to read strips.
- Participate in patient care alongside Nursing Assistants.
- Manage RT equipment, including CPAP and BIPAP, with RT support available.
- Float to other adult medical/surgical nursing units as needed.
- Complete orientation involving 1 day of computer training and 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation.
