Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to join our team in providing exceptional care to patients in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive critical care experience and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

Contract Details

• Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Option for 4 shifts of 12 hours may be available; inquiries are welcome during submission.
• Call outs may lead to immediate contract cancellation.

Time Off and Weekend Requirements

• 14 days or less of requested time off (RTO) will be automatically approved.
• All candidates are required to work every other winter and summer holiday; no RTO will be accepted during these periods.
• No RTO is permitted on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother's Day, and Father's Day.
• Every other weekend is required.

Floating and Unit Information

• Travelers may float to Intermediate Care Units (IMC) based on facility needs.
• All travelers are expected to float within appropriate critical care areas according to their scope and competency.
• This position is located within a 29-bed non-aggregated ICU with an average daily census of approximately 26 patients.
• The ICU manages a diverse range of patients including those with Medical, Surgical, Coronary Care, Neuro, and Trauma needs, specializing in high-risk Neuro and Trauma interventions.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of critical care experience is required.
• Experience in a Level II trauma center is necessary; Level I trauma experience is preferred.
• New graduates are welcome to apply.

Certifications

• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory.
• ATCAR or equivalent trauma education is required; candidates may complete a Maryland-approved trauma course to meet this requirement.
• A passing score on the Prophecy Relias Advanced EKG assessment is required prior to contract commencement.

Experience Requirements

• Prior experience in Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU settings is required.
• Strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills are necessary.
• Experience in managing multi-system organ dysfunction/failure and cardiac/vasoactive drip titration is essential.

Special Equipment Proficiency

• Experience with IABP (Intra-aortic Balloon Pump).
• Familiarity with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy).
• Experience in managing EVD (External Ventricular Drain).
• Knowledge of Arctic Sun/Cooling blanket management.

Charting System

This position utilizes Cerner as the electronic health record system.

Scrub Color

Staff are expected to wear navy blue scrubs while on shift.
