Position Overview

The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) will provide high-quality care within a dynamic endoscopy unit, performing various procedures and assisting in the recovery of patients. This role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Unit Description

The unit comprises 7 procedure rooms, including 4 for Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) and 3 for conscious sedation procedures. It is equipped with holding and recovery rooms and operates on weekdays with on-call availability for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and administration of endoscopic procedures.
• Monitor patients during procedures using established protocols.
• Manage patient recovery in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
• Ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of endoscopic equipment, including Olympus scope setup and reprocessing.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation utilizing the EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Active RN License in Massachusetts.
• AHA ACLS Certification is required.
• SGNA or CBSPD certification is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience in a single location and at least 2 years of travel nursing experience.
• Familiarity with GI technician endoscopy procedures and equipment handling.

Working Conditions

The clinician-to-patient ratio is 1:1 in procedural rooms and 1:2-3 in the PACU. The patient population is diverse, and the unit sees a census of approximately 60-70 procedures per day.

Shift Details

• Full-time position: 40 hours per week.
• Shifts typically start at 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM with one rotating day from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
